The craftsman
Nicolas Pécard
An unusual path, from graphic design to timber building. 20 years in the trade, put to work on exceptional decks.
His story
From design to wood, an uncommon route
Nicolas started out as a graphic designer. His feel for proportion, lines and visual balance comes from there, and it shapes the way he approaches every outdoor space.
He then moved into building timber-frame houses. For several years he learned structure, joinery and the strength of materials, on site.
Today, with 20 years in the wood trade, he focuses entirely on custom decks in Provence, and works with his clients in French or in English.
Career
Three trades, one vision
01
Graphic designer
A sense of proportion, line and visual harmony. His first career gave Nicolas something few craftsmen have: the eye of a designer who thinks about the space before building it.
The designer's eye
02
Timber-frame house builder
Several years learning structure, joinery and how materials behave under load. Solid, hands-on technical training that built a complete knowledge of wood.
The carpenter's precision
03
Custom decks
Today, with 20 years in the wood trade, Nicolas works entirely on custom decks. He designs, draws and builds every project himself, from the first board to the last finishing touch.
Both perspectives
Method
Drawn before it is built
Every deck starts with a site visit and a drawing. Levels, steps, the line of the pool, the shade of a tree: Nicolas plans the details on paper so that the finished deck looks as if it had always been there.
Commitments
What you can expect
Careful work
Nicolas carries out every job himself. No subcontracting, no rotating crews: one contact from the quote to the handover.
Clean finishes
Neat joints, hidden fasteners, sanded edges. The result has to live up to the timber, whether itauba or thermally modified Nordic pine.
Dates kept
A clear schedule, set out in the quote, and kept. When Nicolas gives you a date, he sticks to it.
